If you want a thoughtful response to national issues rather than party dogma, look to moderate Dems and moderate Reps. BOTH are dying breeds. Heck, how about interbreeding among the lot to preserve the country faster?

When people finally accept there is NO real difference between the two parties, then the republic has a chance. Why should any of the clowns in the House or the Senate change their ways; they've got it made the way it is.

What is a Moderate Republican?
Any of the local moderate Republicans are the ones who support all things Portland, TriMet and Metro.
Is that being moderate?

Its almost impossible to be perceived as a moderate when you are surrounded by a political system that has gone so far left its the closest thing this country has ever seen to pure socialism.
The moderates like myself on social issues are instantly marginalized by the attacks from the left for being too far right. You have to wonder.

My concern isn't for preserving an endangered species. It's that half of these "advocates" are really just showboaters. For every conservationist trying to capture-and-release into more viable habitat (much like the efforts here in Dallas with moderate Democrats), you have at least two who just want to yuk it up for the television cameras. "Now, I'm gonna sneak up behind and jam my thumb up his butthole! This'll really piss him orf!"
