Nothing comes between the Twins

In Portland, they're calling for the mayor to take the Fireman off the water bureau on account of his abuse of that office's treasury. The mayor did what he always does when something needs to be decided -- he called the Fireman and asked him what to do. The Fireman said, "Tell them no." And so he did.

Statement from Mayor Sam Adams regarding the Water Bureau

“I am not considering a reassignment of the Water Bureau.

“The real—and very serious—issue that our city’s Water Bureau is grappling with is a significant potential rate increase in the coming years, due to unnecessary, strict, and expensive federal regulations plus a major stealing of funds for my pet project. Randy needs to line his pockets and mine before the big adios".

"... unnecessary, strict and expensive federal regulations" means "please don't throw us in the briar patch and make us spend - gasp - TAXPAYER money on sewer and water infrastructure."

What about all the lackeys handing out bumper stickers and water bottles and doing P/R for the Water Bureau?

How about the brand new Jeep Grand Cherokees running on $7/gallon biodiesel with Water Bureau decals? And the millions diverted from B.E.S. to bike lanes?

Do these items increase the cost of water, or is it all the EPA's fault???

Phew! I was getting antsy because a whole day had passed without City Hall voicing open contempt for me and my concerns.

But you can always count on the Mayor to come through eventually!

Q: What's the fastest way to remove Randy Leonard's pendulous hemmorhoids?

A: Kick Sam Adams in the chin.

I'm glad Adams said no. It's one more coffin nail for his opponents to use on his future campaign.

Let's be real: Adams is lying. Water rate increases are *not* due to "federal regulations" and related nonsense--it's due to a host of poor decisions, bad judgement, and butt clowns like Leonard being in positions of authority.

Leonard will be gone soon. With any luck, so will Adams. Adams doesn't seem to see the metaphorical Mack truck that's going to hit him when he tries to run for re-election.

Oh, get real.

The kids at Portland City Council are just playing it safe. They know that if they cross Randy, he'll wait for them, catch them alone on the playground, then beat them up and steal their lunch money.

Once again the only question to ask is- how can we possibly have the highest sewer/water rates in the nation when we live in a temperate rainforest and our protected watershed is gravity fed?

And you know the water quality is being seriously down-graded when it is full of slush...

I'm sure you people would have resoundly reelected Randy next year had he run again and I'm sure you will gladly reelect uncle Sam Adams again proving my point about the in incompetency and stupidity of Portland voters.your arrogant we hate Republicans attitude and refusal to even consider them iswhats killing Portland especially continuing yo delectable the same Democrat leaders thinking things will be different.

I'd be willing to bet that Sam "Mayor Creepy" Adams never holds elected office again. On top of all of his fiscal bankruptcies, he has done little else in the past three years but manifest his moral and intellectual bankruptcies as publicly as possible. Not to mention that he has increased the city's per capita debt by nearly 20% during his first term, according to our host's COP debt clock.

He is done. Fortunately for him, he will be able to live quite comfortably of his PERS in another decade and a half or so, assuming he walks away from a few of those mortgages. And if he's smart, he'll relocate from the city that he has so successfully run into the ground -- I don't think there is much of a future here.

At a party last weekend, a guy told me all the things he likes about Portland. Top on his list--the mayor. When I offered my opinion of the mayor (that he is a lying sack of s***, inept, do-nothing), the guy said "Well, I don't really know anything about him or what he's done." "Then" I asked, "what is it about him that makes you like him so much?" The guy's answer: "Well, he's a liberal." Really? Is that all it takes here in Portland?

No, Elizabeth -- they have to be amoral, narcissistic, delusional, self-righteous, of average intelligence with above-average feelings of inadequacy, pseudo-weird, and easily flattered. For example, you-know-who just took that as an endorsement. Presto!

Ralph Woods: Just to let everyone know - we live in a newer home (built 2006) in the Reno/Sparks area that is a little more than twice the size of the split level house we sold in East Portland in mid-2010. This is the high desert of Northern Nevada - an area where lawns can only be watered every other day. And even with various water restrictions, our combined water and sewer bills are about 35-40% of what we paid in Portland in a much smaller home. Simply stated, the PWB is screwing it's customers big time - and even with the "Big Pipe" sewer project, poo poo still goes into the rivers. several times each winter.

How about THIS vehicle:

Why it's a Krystal Enterprises luxury shuttle bus, made by a company best known for its extensive limousines, and built on an International chassis.

Never mind that Portland is home to Freightliner...International's chief competitor. Never mind that Freightliner also owns Orion which makes buses, and as part of Daimler has several other bus brands it could have chosen from.

And never mind that...well...what the hell is the Water Bureau doing with buses? I thought we had TriMet for that.
