If, like us, you love Aretha Franklin, here's a story about her recent doings that you'll probably find worthwhile.

I suppose it might appear that way, given the usual puffery produced about pop stars. But I found it a pretty sympathetic portrait, showing Aretha as brilliant, flawed, interesting and, in the end and in the most essential way, not unlike the rest of humanity: "looking for love."

Why would I give the New York Times money for anything?

Maybe it would make you less of a crank.
