Ah, the joys of Portland's daily newspaper. Here's a story published at lunchtime:

By dinnertime, there's a whole new spin on the same facts:

The editors' hands over there are as heavy as they are clumsy.

Decisions like this will result in fewer prosecutions of/shorter sentences for perpetrators of gang violence.

Oh well. I guess it doesn't matter as long as Milwaukie Light Rail gets built.

Most of the 50 punks not locked up will probably be on a MAX train terrorizing people.

This belongs in a journalism textbook--how to manipulate the statistics to slant the article in the way you want.

Manipulating statistics is what Portland is all about. Any means to achieve the end.
