On the spot

Here's an interesting history project -- ferreting out American places in which important things took place, but which bear no memorial of those events. There are probably more than a handful of these in Portland and vicinity. As just one example, what's now in the spot where "Louie Louie" was recorded by the Kingsmen?

No idea, but a safe bet would be a large, mixed use condo tower built with a public-private partnership...

They could add a subset of public restrooms around the country where certain notorious events have taken place.

My dad's musical "claim to fame" was that his barbershop quartet from Wilson High School won 2nd place to some group called The Kingsmen in a local music/talent show back in the early '60s.
