The crisis deepens
After a brief respite, the devastating shortages of King Harvest Balsamic Hummus have recurred throughout the Portland area. The other varieties are there, all right -- the plain, the lemon, the black bean. But if you want the balsamic, you are out of luck.
This the same weekend that Karl Rove was in town. Coincidence? I think not.

May I suggest adding some balsamic vinegar to regular hummus? I mean we do have to make some sacrifices. There is a war on. Speaking of grocery stores, guess who was in line with me at the cashier's just now? Storm Large in the house.
In closing, you should have tasted the hummus back in the old country where I'm from. You would forget all about King Harvest, believe me.

At Betsy's suggestion, I did purchase the plain hummus and will attempt to stir in the balsamic vinegar. But I worry that it just won't be the same.

Balsamic hummus? My God, Jack. You need a Taylor Ham infusion.

Actually, Taylor ham and balsamic hummus on a hard roll sounds pretty good to me.

Jack,
Stop worryin' and just hum like the rest of us while you eat some chickpeas, garlic and tahini paste. Oh, and drink massive quantities of aceto balsamico. Your liver will thank you.

Jack, as of noon-time today (Monday 4/16) the Wild Oats on Fremont had at least 8 to 10 containers of King Harvest Balsamic Hummus sitting in that refrigerated case near the back of the store behind the greeting cards (and costing considerably more than the other varieties; that B.V. is like liquid gold...)
