Survivor: Race bait edition
This is going to backfire big time on CBS. A real spirit of public service, and especially great for the kids to watch.

Next season, they'll re-enact "Lord of the Flies" with real spears.
Posted by: Alan DeWitt at August 26, 2006 01:37 PMSadly, this is the beginning of the end for Survivor.
That said, I bet the first episode draws more viewers than it has in years.
Posted by: Justinn at August 26, 2006 03:22 PMAs long as my kids aren't among them...
Posted by: Jack Bog at August 26, 2006 03:39 PMMaybe we're in one of those dark times, where open and blatent racism and race baiting are acceptable.

If you click on the links above, you'll find some recent examples of pols making political hay of racism and race baiting. All are GOP (surprise! and yes I'm counting Lieberman among them).
Posted by: TKrueg at August 26, 2006 05:32 PMNah, next year it'll be the mentally retarded versus the Bush administration. Which will be awesome, I'm sure.
Posted by: Lawbot at August 26, 2006 10:41 PMErrr, Lawbot? I'm confused. I thought there were supposed to be at least two teams.

Yup, any time Jesse Jackson opens his mouth, La Raza or MECHA gets a public forum, or if you listen to the current "fav" with the kiddies today...hip-hop music. Yes, we still have the dorks with shaved heads and swastikas. But they have been far overshadowed by the current crop of racist losers with airtime.
Posted by: Jon at August 28, 2006 09:11 AMGlad to say I have never watched Survivor...
They should have left the host on "Rock and Roll Jeopardy".
I have been a Survivor fan since day 1, but no more. Don't they realize that what makes the program great is watching Americans from divergent backgrounds and walks of life interact with each other? And I stress the word AMERICANS. Not African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Chinese-Americans, or Jewish Americans, etc. If the producers of this program think that race is the overriding factor in what makes people who they are, then they are in lockstep with the David Dukes and Louis Farrakhans of the world.
I don't know who came up with this idea, or who approved it, or who acquiesed to it, but it is shockingly tasteless and racist, and hopefully the end of careers for all involved.
