More field burning shenanigans

"The wind shifted." Sure. (Via The Corvallist.)

This happened several times each summer in Eugene in the late 60's early 70's I lived there as a kid.

It was common on field burning days to have a layer of soot on windowsills and on top of fences. Sometimes a temperature inversion occured, and the nasty smoke and soot got trapped over Eugene for days. Pretty ugly.
