Monday night fizzle-ball

The Jets did not prevail this evening -- Mark Sanchez was horrible and should be benched -- and so the standings in our charity pro football pool stand where they were last night, but without the asterisks. Week 6 lines will be posted sometime tomorrow.

I say: NFL Defensive Player of the Week -- Texans DE J.J Watt!

To deflect those lame passes isn't much of an accomplishment. He got the W for Houston, but surely some defensive player did as much against a better team.

You have a good point about Sanchez, Jack -- But: 6 tackles, 4 solo, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss, 3 passes defensed, 2 QB hits. He was a difference-maker in the game at key times.

Speaking of great defensive lineman, sad news breaking tonight about an all-time great:

Lions great Alex Karras near death

Notable exceprt:

The 77-year-old Karras has suffered from a variety of health problems in recent years, including dementia and cancer, and is part of the mass concussion lawsuit more than 3,000 former players have filed against the NFL.

JJ Watt is definitely a beast and a game changer. The Jets are a total train wreck and they need a new coach and QB.

Heck, Watt was Defensive Player of the Month already. Two teams going in opposite directions there. It's only a matter of days before the Jets sign T.O. to make the collapse complete:
