No. No Andy. It's hazardous to diabetics.

Jack, whenever I check in on a Friday afternoon and see "Have a great weekend," I take a breath and think, "Ah, at last it's Friday!"

First saw Frank at Yale's Woolsey Hall in 1969 with the original Mothers crew - just brilliant in every possible way. Just after he died 19 years ago, I visited the Galapagos Islands where an expat owner of a small hotel in Puerto Ayora had a substantial record collection including lots of Zappa. He hadn't heard the sad news, and after everyone else turned in, we lay in hammocks listening to Zappa until the wee hours. So many memories . . .

There was a time when I could recite the lyrics to this and every other song from "Overnight Sensation." I also had the rare opportunity of standing outside an auditorium door, listening to Frank Zappa rehearse his band for a week, and then I attended the opening night concert of a new tour.
"Overnight Sensation" was his most accessible album and it remains one of the greatest recording achievements of the last 100 years. "The Slime from the Video"? Please. How about "Dirty Love"? Come on: "I'll ignore your cheap aroma, and your Little Bo Peep diploma, I'll just put you in a coma with my dirty love." Plus there's Dinah Moe Humm - roughly as important a musical accomplishment as Handel's Messiah.
The only other song of his that moved my dorm as much as this album was the spectacularly funny, "Stink Foot" from the "Apostrophe" album..."My python boot was too tight, I couldn't get it off last night, 3 weeks went by, and now it's July, I finally got it off and my girlfriend cried, 'You've got stink foot. Stink foot, darling.'"
"Your stink foot puts a hurt on my nose." Genius.

Evelyn, a modified dog...
Viewed the quivering fringe of a special doily.
Draped across the piano with some surprise...

I love Andy Williams. A childhood idol I will not abandon even as I grew out of it.
But I've been thinking about Frank Zappa ever since your Arizona keep-your-mouth-closed ("Don't eat that yellow snow) post this morning.

"I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little has changed
I am the tool of the government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I am the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I am the slime oozin out
From your tv set"
