Another write-in possibility for Portland mayor

We're writing in LaVonne Griffin-Valade for mayor of Portland. But if she's not your cup of tea, Portlanders, you have other options besides the two weak characters whose names will be printed on the ballot. Here's one write-in candidate who prevailed in Alaska.

Although his position is honorary, Stubbs' popularity is real. His election earned him enough press to catapult the town at the base of Mount McKinley into a tourist destination.

Here is his picture. He looks quite savvy. Maybe that is what we need is a savvy cool cat to bring those "hordes of people" to Portland. Could this be the ticket to bring those huge conventions into Portland, for the new hotel? However, as savvy and green as we may want to portray, I don't think people will even consider coming here with those coal trains and dust nearby!

Might I be so bold as to recommend my cat, Louie. He has that same "takes no guff" look on his mug, and informs me several times a day, in no uncertain terms, that I should just "deal with it."

He doesn't live in Portland, but neither does one of the current candidates, so that shouldn't be a problem. At least he lives in OREGON.

For a long time, I have believed we should elect Mia Hamm President of the United States. I just get a solid hit from her, compared to the dingbat role models we are forced to endure, churned out by these ridiculous beauty pageants.

Remember: No beauty pageants = no Miss Wasilla. No Miss Wasilla and the country could have been spared from Sarah Palin.

President Mia Hamm. I'm not always right. I'm often wrong. But I know I'm right about this.
