I wonder if people thought their beloved sports stadiums could never be turned into large billboards?
Civic Stadium --> PGE Park.
I remember when they changed that name. I was sad.
It just occurred to me that maybe Civic was a corporate name?

Go for it.
The Wells Fargo Center, brought to you by AT&T and powered by Portland General Electric, at Fred Meyer Station. What's on your list today? Blazers Tickets? You'll find it at Freddy's. You are riding an IKEA Line Train to Intel Central. Doors to my right. This platform sponsored by Kaiser Permanente. May you ride well, and thrive.

Absolutely NO food advertising on school buses.
Other than that, there could be some pretty fun pairings. A jail, sponsored by a locksmith. TriMet, brought to you by Leif's Auto Collision and Les Schwab Tires. The Ringling Brothers could sponsor the City Council's meeting chambers.

When looking at Baltimore it would be interesting to know how much of property is tax exempt. It seems that lots of cities are in trouble because of that or headed that way.

Michelle,
Great comments.
Take it a step further, couldn't help but think ...
How about our elected officials wearing sandwich boards?

I do like the thought of our leaders having to wear patches naming their largest sponsors. Sorta like Nascar.

"like Nascar":
I'd like to see a patch with a receding hairline, bearded short guy swinging a bat with "HOMER" underneath.
He's definitely at the top of the "sponsors" list.

If you sponsor a Portland police car that drives into Clark County, do you have to start paying Washington's business tax?
