Clackistani rebels gain more ground against "urban renewal"
Voters in the lovely burgs of Estacada and Damascus passed ballot measures yesterday that would require public votes before "urban renewal" shenanigans are foisted on their towns. In Estacada, the city government tried to confuse voters with a competing measure, but just as with Clackamas County's attempt to do that in a recent election, the decoy measure failed.
"Urban renewal" is a ripoff. Congratulations to the groups that got these measures on the ballot, where they passed easily.

Bravo!
Congratulations to the majority of voters in the newest city in
Oregon – Damascus (M_3-389) and citizens in the
City of Estacada (M_3-391) for standing up to the
Portland Metro Transit Industrial Complex – PMTIC
by passing overwhelmingly their respective ballot measures.
And asking simple questions and requiring plans along
with “updates” to provide answers. Like:
How much does this plan cost?
What are the proposed plan property right impacts upon citizens?
What are obligations will the plan place upon citizens?
It is my hope for the following to occur in 2012 and 2013:
1. Clackamas County citizens will learn fast and demand publicly
signed contracts from all candidates in return for a vote cast in
the 2012 May 15 Tuesday Primary Elections.
2. Members of Clackamas County Transportation System Plan
update committee will acknowledge the rapidly evolving desire
of citizens to vote to ratify comprehensive plans, significant
modifications, or periodic updates. Prior to submission to
Board of County Commissioners, Metro, Dept of Land
Conservation and Development and Land Conservation and
Development Commission.
3. Members of City of Lake Oswego Comprehensive Plan Update
(LOCPU) aka “We Love LO” will recommend a similar path.
4. Members of City of Lake Oswego Transportation Advisory
Board acting as the Lake Oswego Transportation System Plan
Citizen Advisory Committee will also recommend a similar path.
5. Members of the Metro Council and all committees created
will embark on true citizen involvement through plan
ratification by voters at the polls rather than continuation of
current “Public Involvement Programs” (PIP) structure.
6. Oregon Legislature in the 2013 / 77_th session will consider
amendments to current Laws, Administrative Rules, Resolutions,
Policies and Agreements (LARPA) and require voter ratification
of both comprehensive plans and transportation system plans. Or
at least require plans and updates to itemize and delineate all
changes in citizen’s obligations and property rights.
This will insure citizen involvement and civility in public discourse.
Citizens are just trying to survive.

LOOSSWUR – Lake Oswego Oregon Streetcar Scam With Urban Renewal

I had to laugh at the Oregonian's headline:
Damascus residents approve controversial voter-approval measure
It was so controversial that it passed 78% to 22%!
That's right, the city council proved that it represents 22% of the people!
I believe the entire region rejected Metro mandated density by a similar margin in 2002. See http://www.portlandfacts.com/smart/metrodensityvote.htm
Just more proof that the government has been taken over by a small cadre of zealots who are trying to shove their values down our throats.
Thanks
JK
