Is the City of Portland being run by vicious, petty, vindictive people? Here's somebody who thinks so, based on personal experience.

Shocking! Next you're going to tell me that these guys make illegal backroom deals and siphon off public money for themselves.

What your city needs is another Dorothy McCullough Lee.

Pornlandia. I like that. That pretty much summed up a lot of downtown back in the early 70's.

There is no one in the city more vicious, petty and vindictive than our mayor.

What happen to the Portland Parking manager and the FBI's investigation of his management of city parking/contracts?
As to this story: I can see why the Mayor might not like what the detective did, as it promoted a certain less than postive image of Portland. Even good Mayors (we can only imagine one in Portlandia), are big on a city's image. Heck, Mayor Adams might have even tried to not make a cameo appearance in "pornlandia" even if given a chance.
P.S remember Multnomah County detective, Bunn, I think it was back in the early to mid 80s, and the vice TV series he starred in for awhile? Wow, those were the days of fun and games for Multnomah County sheriff and crew.

In other news today, the sky is blue, the Earth is round, and the only certain things in life are death and taxes. Now this commercial message...

I think so, too, based on personal experience. I have spoken up about land use abuses, misuse of conservatorships and animal services' longstanding relationship with animal users. Every time I would something, someone asked me to submit to a psychological evaluation. I did that once with no abnormalities. The third time it happened, I sued bar actors for participating. The courts did the twist to prevent the case from going forward; even to the extent of a local civil rights lawyer telling me Marc Blackman would impose sanctions on me unless I dropped the case. (Funny I missed the day in law school where they taught what authority he would have to do that). Even now I am still having problems. A recent employer was told I was insane and began poring over all of my work seeking "evidence". I also recently learned that a friend who was a nanny for two lawyers 20 years ago told her I was not to visit their home because I was a 'dangerous" person. One of them has never even met me. The BS seems never to stop and there seems to be little real recourse. My personal physician told me about when he reported a drunken good old boy performing surgery, then immediately became the focus of a fishing expedition.
As a result of all of this, I suffered plenty of depression and anxiety.
I understand from speaking with others that there are quite a few small time, basically honest lawyers who are put through this hell, and, reportedly, evidence of retaliation keeps disappearing.
I think the professinals who allow this kind of thing to go on are almost as guilty as those who perpetuate it.

Like my friend who worked in CoPs planning/permits dept back in the 90s said after deciding to seek employment out of the area, "more crooked than a box of corkscrews".

Interesting. I wonder if this is the reason that almost every strip club in Portland has turned into nothing but glorified jack shacks this past year? People in the industry that I know say that standards have really deteriorated and prostitution is rampant now. I was curious as to why vice hasn't been at least making a stab at keeping it under more control.
