Is Willy Week serving Wiener-schnitzel?
Here's an interesting hit piece that WW ran late last week, against GOP congressional candidate Rob Cornilles. Do you think the reporter dug that one up on her own? Or was it fed to her by a political operative?
To us it smells an awful lot like a Mark Wiener hit job. In the primary, WW dropped a stinkbomb on Kari Chisholm, political consultant to Suzanne Bonamici's opponent, Brad Avakian. And that one bore the same aroma as the latest.

Politics ain't beanbag. This Cornilles-Bonamici race is really down and dirty already, before the primary when neither of them have been selected, they're already after each other hammer and tongs. Seems like a waste of money at this point, but who knows.

I've been seeing the negative ads already. I hate election years.

Does this mean the election is going to come down to who eats organic chicken and who doesn't?

Dg, in today's Portland, you may be right on the mark. Only loons and losers seem to wind up running for office around here anyways.

What does Willamette Week want, politically speaking? Does anyone know? In my nearly 20 years in the Portland area I've never been able to clue into their political mindset or find any real consistency to their candidate preferences, except that they don't seem to like strong ideological stances of any kind. Unlike many so-called alternative newspapers (e.g., the Seattle Stranger, the SF Guardian), they have never, to my knowledge, offered an explicit political worldview or policy agenda. Maybe they really don't have one, and all their choices are just kind of random and spur-of-the-moment. But that would mean they aren't very intelligent or think very deeply.

Nah, this one is an easy one. The "Oregonians" for "Food & Shelter" sent out a press release. Everyone in politics knows they're the pesticide lobby. Paulette Pyle, their lobbyist, is one of the most powerful and influential GOP consultants too.
