Chilly 'dogs

We're coming up on the solstice, and that means a lot of the underdogs of pro football are fighting for their lives today. Here are who the players in our charity game think will prevail:

7.5 WASHINGTON vs. New England - Grizfan, john dull, Eric W.
7 MINNESOTA at Detroit - Paul, mna, umpire, Bad Brad, Ricardo

3.5 TENNESSEE vs. New Orleans - Michael K.
3.5 CHICAGO at Denver - Tommy W.
3.5 ARIZONA vs. San Francisco - Pete Rozelle
3 CAROLINA vs. Atlanta - AKevin, jmh
3 NEW YORK GIANTS at Dallas - Money Maker

Note: This post was put together in the wee small hours of this morning, and is being posted by robot. It reflects all the picks that were turned in as of early today. There doubtlessly will have been a few stragglers between then and the 10:00 a.m. Pacific deadline, and I will post said stragglers' picks when I get back to the keyboard later today.

In the meantime, good luck, everybody, and enjoy the games!

UPDATE, 1:37 p.m.: Sunday morning pickers added -- list is now complete.

UPDATE, 1:41 p.m.: Houston beats Cincy for the only winner in the first round of 'dogs. Three points for John Ch.

UPDATE, 5:36 p.m.: The Cardinals with an "s" take the Niners down a peg, earning 3.5 points for Pete Rozelle. One player in our game's got the G-Men tonight; tomorrow night's game was off the board because no line appeared before our Thursday deadline.

UPDATE, 9:01 p.m.: The New York Football Giants prevail, adding 3 points to Money Maker's season total.

That Washington pick over New England looks brilliant so far, deep into the 3rd Q.

Meanwhile, in New York -- where the Jets now lead KC 35-3, after finishing a 98-yd drive with 81 yards gained in penalties against KC -- the Chiefs' pained head coach Todd Haley may ditch his sideline Gatorade and just start hitting the firewater.

Oops. While this was being written, CBS switched its national broadcast of the Jets game to the Wash-NE game, where NE just went ahead 34-27.

The Bears' RB Marion Barber is going to dropped off a lot of Chicago Xmas card lists this year. Ran out of bounds unnecessarily near the end of regulation, giving the Broncos time to come back (which they did), and then he fumbles in OT as the Bears are into FG position. What a knucklehead.

The outcome is still undetermined, but the Bears should have won 10-0. They're now in the bin with the Cryboys in never ever being trusted to take a game they should win, even as slight underdogs.

Wow. What an exciting Sunday night game. Nice work by the Giants to ice the kicker and block the rekick to win at the final second of play. Hope is still alive for NY. Some fine quarterbacking by Eli to make a big TD drive and yet another fourth quarter comeback with the season on the line. Fun game to watch and congrats to Money Maker for the 3 points.

When the Cowboys went up by 12 points late in the 4th quarter, they were all smiles. Jerry Jones was partying, Tony Romo was giddy, and their Eddie Haskell coach was grinning like he had just iced the game.

Maybe next season - if Jason Garrett gets another season - he'll stay focused. You're the coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Tom Landry wouldn't be over there grinning like an idiot.

KC Chiefs' head coach Todd "Another Round for My Pals" Haley got fired today.

And I agree with Bill. Though remember, the Cowboys lost any class they once had when Jerry "I Am Who's The Filthy Rich Boss" Jones ignominiously fired Tom Landry shortly upon Jones' taking ownership from H.R. "Bum" Bright.

It looks bleak for Jason and his coaching staff, especially defensive coordinator Rob "Tzatzikius" Ryan:
