Nothing to worry about at Hanford

They know what they're doing. Really. Everything's fine.

I like that one sentence in the East Oregonian's article referring to the new ventilation system:
"It has no radioactive contamination because it has not been connected yet."

Well, what are we waiting for? Let's connect it then.

Keep in mind some parts of the tank system is very old. This summer they have been installing a modern control system to monitor and run the fans that remove the vapor "burps" of the tanks. The witches brew in the tanks were created long before some of the current workers were born. A lot of effort goes into carefully managing what our parents left us. The testing of the new system is done under the supervision of a professional engineer. Next time I'm playing with my granddaughter, I'll ask him what the fuss was about.
On the other hand you should be far more worried about this: http://www.tri-cityherald.com/2011/08/14/1603026/vit-plant-mixing-system-called.html
