Here comes Jeffer-Sten Smith
According to Willy Week, which loves the guy, the Harvard Law grad from Felony Flats is making noises about joining the fun in trying to unseat the current mayor of Portland. We're way leery of this fellow, Jefferson Smith, who seems prone to the same Brilliant Idea spasms as his Bus Kid buddy, Erik Sten. Apparently Smith is thinking that the unions won't go for Brady, and maybe he can get a bunch of them behind him rather than Hales.

He'll be entertaining, if nothing else. Imagine Sten's idea factory combined with Dennis Miller's random connections mixed in with the fidgeting normally associated with meth addicts.

The SEIU will elect the next mayor. Everything else is just entertainment.

I don't see it. His ultimate goal is to run for governor, and I think it would be tough to sell voters in Medford and Pendleton on voting for the mayor of Portland.

I'm sure portlanders would be stupid enough to elect another anti jobs liberal loser like Smith too.

Wondering about this Bus Project group, is it a prep for future elected officials around here? Don't think it is a good idea to have them come out of the same chute, so to speak.
Of course I understand this is a great idea for the likes of Sten, Jefferson Smith and Ben Cannon, etc. to have such base to work for them.
I am concerned when these youth organizations take on dominance and wonder who/what/why they are being taught, such as the PSU and city alliance.
Don't have anything against young folks, but just ask the question now about how much of independent thinking is going on matters?
I could be off base, but I get this hunch that they are all OK about what is going on in our area. The reason I ask this is that my perception is that there is way too much silence on critical issues around here from young folks as far as I can tell. Maybe it is the system, student loans to pay, grant money to keep some in line?
