A word from Levittown
In 2008, I interviewed Joe Sinitski, a technician for a heating and air-conditioning company, just before he cast a vote he never expected to make — for Mr. Obama, even though he said he had been "brought up" in such a way as to make him disinclined to vote for a black candidate. He has since been laid off from his job but said he would vote for the Democrat. "The way it looks to me is the Republicans have gone to the other extreme," he said. "It’s like they’re saying, 'O.K., if you can vote in a black guy, we’ll counter that by putting up nut jobs for office.'"

Obama could pretty easily be slipped in to the nut job catagory, but then that would require a widespread beief that he had gotten out of it.
I have to admit however, that the way I was raised made me disinclined to vote for a four flusher.

"we'll counter that by putting up nutjobs for office."
There are a few more gop "nutjobs" in this cycle than normal, but the person quoted has the wrong take on it.
It shows that the GOP establishment is no longer trusted by the rank-and-file to vet the most electable candidates. My take is that there is a lot more people who are no longer buying into the "winning is everything" strategy for every election.
They take risks on Angle's, O'Donnell's and Paladino's because they can't stomach voting for another sellout - even if it means losing a winnable seat because the nominee wasn't fully vetted.
The GOP-establishment will have to adapt to this for 2012 (and try to encourage and vet the best Tea Party candidates) or face a massive revolt from the rank and file.

It tells me that when you blindly adhere to the mainstream media, you buy their spin that considers anyone outside of a Beltway insider a 'nut job' - and the superficially racist categorization of Obama as 'the black guy'
