Game on

In our charity pro football underdog pool, we have seven players choosing Minnesota to win its game outright tonight: Matt W., PJB, Michael K., Drew, Ricardo, Gary, and Ed. And so far that's a winning pick, although there's still a half to play.

The other players have until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday to get their picks of the week into us. Good luck, everybody.

UPDATE, 8:35 p.m.: No go for our players tonight -- the world champs held court.

Jack, refresh our memories...how many points won the pool last year?

We didn't play the whole season. In a 14-week game (instead of a full 20), as I recall, 44.5 points won top prize.

Minnesota was a tempting pick, but the view from today makes me glad I passed on that. Always good to see the Minnesota lose! Of course, even the people who picked the Viqueens are still currently tied for first.

Here's to hoping the Jets (who I somewhat secretly love because of Buddy ... er, I mean Rex Ryan) get it handed it to them!

Your picks? Ridiculous. My pick? Fantastic!

First week strategy tip: ignore gut desire to pick the Vikes and remain in first place.

First week strategy? Coin toss. Dart board. Dog with the most letters in the name. Not much to go on. The number of "Dogs" at home is unusual. Maybe that's the ticket. Genop

My strategy, avoid the longest shot pick-up that I thought about and figure the Ravens are loaded to shoot down the Jets
