Wrong place, right time

Here's a Southern California couple who would be welcomed with open arms by Fireman Randy's bureaucrats up here in Portland. Growing lawns and roses are so totally out these days. Portland's nickname will soon be changed to the "Drought-Tolerant Boxwood City."

Neon roses are preferred by Mr Leonard. Actual blooms in this erstwhile City of Roses, such as those displayed on this site last year and those on the two dozen bushes I tend, have become, in this era of prohibitive water and sewer charges, luxuries.

It is beyond ironic that the Rose Festival is heavily subsidized by the CoP, through the machinations and questionable largesse of Mr Leonard, while ordinary citizens tending their own gardens and contributing extensively to the visual presentation and experience of this city must choose between personal hygiene and Peace Roses.

Really? With water issues in Cali you would think the city/county would give them an award. I don't get government all. They preach conversation, someone actually does something that results in a dramatic reduction in their water use and they sue them over it. Bizarre, moronic and idiotic. No wonder California is so screwed up and we're not far behind.

I imagine that when the rates skyrocket, we will go from the "City that works" to the "City that stinks"!
