Silver bells and cockle shells

There's an eco-roof conference coming to Portlandia a week from Friday. And "Legend" Saltzman will be there planting some campaign seeds.

The two-day event will be held in the newly remodeled space between Weidler and Broadway just across from the Rose Quarter; that site looks pretty fresh and interesting from the outside. The high school basketball state tournament will be going on there at the same time, however, and there's a remodeling show as well on the second day. You may wish to fly in by helicopter.

That pseudo green place was developed by so called private developers. It will never pencil out, so the City of Portland decided to rent some of the space for some sustainable bureau of who knows what to help the developer along. This city is so nice to the citizens.

Why not go by streetcar?
