Boss Randy, Part II
"[What] my experience has taught is the more you fall into matrixes and following rules, [that] is where you get into trouble."
Translation: I am the law.
This is dangerous stuff, people. Take it from a guy from Newark.
Where is our fearless state attorney general?

"Where is our fearless state attorney general?"
He probably got a hello call from Tom Chamberlain, Randy's good bud.

Jack:
As a guy who grew up in NYC, I agree totally with your translation. The guy has his friends an neighbors holding "management" jobs they do not deserve and are unproductive at, so he is entrenched.

And Randy wants guns for is so called reservoir patrols???
The Attorney General has probably been bought off or scared off.
Next we will be hearing about horse's heads in some people's beds...just rumors of course.
You bet I'm 'afraid to sign my name'!

Is there a part three with that list of all Leonard's friends and neighbors who suddenly came into lucrative public jobs by his hand?
Posted by RANZ | November 18, 2009 9:29 AM
Once again, Mr. Jaquiss lays out in full detail how one of our local pols does business.
After reading the WW articles the last 2 wks, it appears Mr. Leonard is accoutable to nobody. Nice....

It will be interesting to see how the Cindy's lawsuit pans out.

The decent into anarchy is well under way.

It's all part of the collective nervous breakdown known as the Adams administration. Thirty-seven more months to go!

This town collectively makes the exact opposite political choices from what it should. Therefore, Randy is destined to be Mayor. And yes, that's scary as crap.
I don't understand how the HIT squad has survived legal challenges.
Can anyone on the council convene their own gang of stooges to go around town enforcing regulations?
Can Salzman, Fish and the rest put their own such teams together to pick targets at whim?
Randy is a serious menace not just in himself, but in the precedent of lawlessness he sets for future councils.

Don't worry, Randy. Ever since you annexed the Portland Mercury into the city hall PR conglomorate they've countered every objective piece written by other papers with a toucy-feely, warm and fuzzy little ditty on you. I'm sure it will be in tomorrow's edition.

Balls.... Someone help Nick Fish find his.
Posted by Jocoze | November 18, 2009 7:12 PM
If Nick Fish, Amanda, or even Samadumbs (cringe) want to make a real difference for this City and at the same time earn some kudos from the public, they'd tackle some of the back-scratching and corruption that seems so prevalent. Of course, that'd mean they would also have to back up from the trough long enough to find their conscience.
I've given up on Mr. Press Release, aka the Attorney General.

The "matrix" quote is priceless. Vintage Randy Leonard. He has a way of making these outrageous statements, with feigned earnestness. "I don't even know how I know that" - another priceless gem. Does he really think people buy this crap? I can hardly wait for Part 3. I can sense the hammer poised to fall.

"I don't understand how the HIT squad has survived legal challenges."
What challenge? Randy picks on people who piss him off and own ugly buildings or those who interfere with Greg Goodman selling his condos.
This is like when cities annex individual property owners to get more taxes at no additional service. It is so much easier when we pick people off one at a time instead of en masse.
