If you do, also head down to Fort Necessity National Historic Landmark and National Park which is not very far away. Btw, you could drive all the way on U.S. Route 30 ("The Lincoln Highway") from Astoria to Shanksville. It's also only about 4 hrs. drive from D.C.
I am sure that my reaction to the memorial would be similar to that of the author. A number of years back I visited the Hiroshima Peace Park in Hiroshima Japan. I was in tears before I was half way through. When it comes to senseless violence seams that the end never justifies the means.

At my age this won't happen, but my thanks and best wishes go to the families of these brave men and women.

If you don't remember you might fall for it again. Who is pulling the wool over our eyes?
