Good stuff. How times change in musical taste: On Walgreen's PA system last week, the music was Dizzy Gillespie's big Afro-Cuban band's "Manteca" of 60 years ago! Back then, there was no YouTube to promote that great band, and it sank quickly because the records didn't sell.

Don: Don't know if you know it and didn't expressly mention it, but this Joe Cuba song called "El Pito" is based on Dizzy Gillespie's Manteca, with the chant "I'll Never Go Back to Georgia".
The line is rendered "I'll Never Go Back to Yorya" in the version here.
Smokin' tune. Thanks Jack.

Thanks for the intro to Senor Cuba. Here's Diz and Sandoval, "Manteca" in Finland, '82.
