Get ready to pay more "clean money" for less -- again
I see that, just as with Opie Sten's mysterious departure, we're apparently going to have "clean money" taxpayer campaign financing available for the upcoming special Portland city auditor election -- maybe two elections if there's a runoff. Great.

When I submit my name I expect the elections officer to simple shove it back in my face --- without written reply -- under the direction of the city attorney. I'll have to bring a video camera just to document the attempted filing.

Boy, too bad Portland doesn't use instant runoff voting -- that way, there would only be one round, saving lots of money on the cost of the election and the cost of the funding for candidacies.
Doesn't seem to be a website for Portland area supporters. Here's one from Eugene area: http://www.irv-lane.org/

Wups, spoke too soon. Here's a Portland-area IRV site.

Whether the public funding plan remains in place or not, it's simply wasteful and stupid to have two rounds of expensive elections to do the job of one.
