Fernandez looks good though, doesn't he?

Now Oden isn't on the floor in the second half. Yesterday he was saying that he didn't want to make any sudden moves in practice. Not encouraging.

Come on, prof, let's give the team some time to evolve.

They were almost a playoff team last year -- except for adding Oden into the mix, how much evolution is there supposed to be?
If Roy has to keep carrying these guys another year, his career is going to be short.

Ah, Jack. Your "Merkley has no shot at beating Smith" side is showing. We're playing on the road at the defending conference champions. Expect a slow start, but dare to believe in this team. It'll be more fun.

Oden. Foot xrays. yay.

I tried. But Oden didn't get through a single half of a game in the NBA without an injury. It kind of put a damper on it.

As of Tuesday night, exactly one year and four months after he was drafted, he has yet to score his first NBA point. He missed four field goals and two free throws in 13 minutes of play.
And now we're back to xrays. I'm trying real hard to put a pretty face on this.

I cannot overstate this:
D'oh!!

overheard in a sports bar the day the Blazers took the big fellow.....from Maurice Lucas " His legs remind me of Bowies...not strong pins"
rest my case. another blunder by Blazer Mgt

Maybe not. But I wouldn't be counting on an appearance in the playoffs after the events of this evening.

Oden better NOT be hurt, I drafted him for both my fantasy basketball leagues. After Brady laid waste to my fantasy football leagues, I don't need/want to scramble for a team again.

Oden looked really slow last night (even before the foot injury).
His joints are going to take a pounding over the course of the season. I think he needs to trim about 25 lbs.

Brady
I took Brady in the first round this year too. Fortunately I grabbed Cutler in the 8th and managed to grab Trent Edwards off the wire. It's worked out for me so far. I'm playoff bound. Then it's just a crap shoot.

I joked last year that it seemed we had drafted Sam Bowie again....
I thought I was kidding....last night showed maybe I wasn't....

Foot sprain confirmed. No surgery. Out two to four weeks.

He said, hopefully.

True, but remember the Blazers managed to pull off some pretty impressive displays last season - 13 game streak for example - without Oden, or Rudy, or Batum, or.... Last night was a disaster. But really, aside from the Oden injury that was not expected, who really expected the Blazers to trounce the Lakers on their turf in the first game of the season with some very un-seasoned players? It's still a little early in the season to write them off, I think.
