Feet of clay
It appears that John Edwards is quickly becoming a historical footnote. A sad development, but so it goes. Special condolences to his wife and kids -- all of them.
A funny twist on the story: Tony Pierce, he of Busblog fame, is now being identified in the British press as "one of the top LA Times execs" and speaking for that publication about its refusal to cover the story. You go, Tone!

This says volumes about the integrity of the main stream press. This is one of the main reasons they are losing readers in large numbers. Think of how many stories the LA Times would have published had the person involved been a prominent republican.

If any of this is true, it shows a HORRENDOUS lack of judgment on Edwards' part.
At least this occurred before he was selected as Obama's running mate. Hopefully, any vetting process would have uncovered it and kept him from being selected.
Literally running from the press to avoid answering unpleasant questions is never a good sign if you are trying to deny the story.

The double standard has never been greater. I swear, nearly the same thing would happen if it were Omama himself.

Too bad for him. You gotta have some moxie, though, to get another man to step up and claim paternity. If Edwards has that kind of pull (or push), maybe he deserves to be in a position of authority?

A double standard, really? Because the press has largely ignored the circumstances of McCain's 'transition' into his current relationship. Good thing for him...

That kid is not his. Edwards was quoted as saying "It's completely untrue, ridiculous," he said. "I've been in love with the same woman for 30-plus years and, as anybody who's been around us knows, she's an extraordinary human being, warm, loving, beautiful, sexy and as good a person as I have ever known. So the story's just false."
Case closed.

"That kid is not his."
well meg - if JE says it is not his, it must not be his, I mean politicians never lie to save their skin right?
if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck....well it could be JE's love child....case, not so closed...

Puh leese. Can we dispose of the term "love child"? Pet peeve of mine. More appropriate would be "skank child" or "cheating a-hole child" or "skulking weasel child".

Wait a minute. I thought Edwards was supposed to be gay.

Don't think that I don't need ya
Don't think I don't want to please ya
But no child of mine will be bearing
The name of shame I've been wearing
