It could have been worse

It could have been a 400-foot-tall building.

You know, with all of the other requirements, particularly the riverside taxi ferry and the restoration of the riverfront for juvenile salmon (all three juveniles willing to stick around the noise being made by the water traffic), I'm surprised that the city didn't go for broke and add a unicorn stable and a UFO landing site. After all, considering that it's going to get finished to coincide with the Trailblazers winning their third Superbowl, you might as well freebase a little more Preparation H and work a little harder to please everyone.

That is, quite possibly, uglier than my last hemorrhoid! I thought for sure it was being reported in this publication, http://www.theonion.com/content/business

That white boat in the middle looks like it failed in its attempt to jump over the building.

after it's initial flight, will it be parked next to the Spruce Goose?

Looks like something Bruce McCall would draw.

BTW, if you don't know about Bruce, check this out:

With the high cost of fuel, good luck to Mr Hanna in filling this thing with boats. What do you think the secondary use could be if it doesn't work financially? A parking building for grand pianos?

Developer Derek Hanna’s decision to combine boat storage with office and retail will make Portland City Storage “a destination place,” Flynn said.

A destination place? WTF?

"Hey, everybody! Let's go down to the really ugly building at the river, get ourselves some lattes and hideously expensive sammiches, and watch the boats get stored."

It sounds almost as fun as watching the paint dry.
