It's the little things
I have just learned by e-mail that Jeff Merkley has cancelled his office warming party, which was planned for Thursday. Not that I was planning to go or anything, but you've got to wonder how Merkley can beat a consummate politician like Gordon Smith if his crew can't even get the timing of a reception straight.

Maybe Merkley should have used his auto-dialer to remind people of the time, date and location.

Maybe he's too busy working on ethics that he failed to do in the legislature, or maybe he trying to camouflage gun control priorities. Are their no moderate dimmos?

"Are their no moderate dimmos?"
A few remain, but Oregon's Willamette Valley is much too harsh a climate for them to thrive.

He should have used those new offices to host the M50 victory party.

I have been very impressed with Steve Novick himself, and his campaign staff. Merkley is a good guy, but boring and disorganized, and has a bit of a political tin ear. Better than Smith of course, but there is a better-yet option: Novick. Compare and contrast their websites: www.jeffmerkley.com and novickforsenate.org.

Please, Lord, let them nominate Novick!
