Have a great weekend

Thanks for the great send off. I will always remember sitting down in a Portland restaurant in the early 80's, being nudged by a buddy who gestured to the table next to ours. Stevie Ray was five feet away with some band mates. After they finished eating, they pulled guitars out and jammed right there sitting at the table. That was some kinda dessert. That was some kinda Portland then too.

Good call!

I'll never completely get over it. Stevie Ray Vaughn was all cleaned up and ready to go, and he gets taken out in a.....helicopter accident? Speaking of guitar greats, Marv Tarplin was here last night performing with Smokey Robinson. It was historic to see the man who was on so many Motown classics with the Funk Brothers. By the way, Smokey was awesome. I can't find a review of it anywhere - I know it happened but it's starting to feel like the meteor story.
I was wondering what restaurant that was where SRV was playing guitar at the table.
That deserves a plaque.

Stevie Ray ....... smokin'!

Thanks for dat.

SRV RULES!!

BTW, Eric Clapton was also supposed to be on the same helicopter that crashed killing Stevie and others. For some reason he decided to travel a different way and we still have him around today. (Clapton's new book looks interesting. I read an excerpt in Vanity Fair and plan to pick up a copy soon.)

If you like live Stevie find a dvd called "Live at El Mocambo". Sensational show!
And there is another one from PBS's Austin City Limits show as well...Amazon carries them.

The last time SRV was out this way, it was to play an outdoor show down in Salem. The weather wasn't great, I was tired, and I passed, thinking, "I'll catch him next time." Regret City.

I have quite a few SRV albums, including the tribute album that his brother and a bunch of folks did for him (Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, etc...), and love every minute of them all. My personal favorite tune is "Rude Mood" but there are so many good ones.
