Use of campaign funds in Oregon for ethics fines and related legal fees are no longer allowed. This change was in SB 10 passed during the 2007 legislative session. Public officials in Oregon will be allowed to form legal defense trust funds to pay for these kinds of expenses.
More work needs to be done in Oregon regarding use of campaign funds, but this issue can be checked off the list.
