Slim Jim boycott succeeds
Our suggestion this morning turned into a groundswell of grassroots action, and suddenly we've brought the mighty ConAgra to its knees. The power of blogging!
The clerk at our local 7 Eleven on NE Broadway reported zero sales of Slim Jims all day. "We usually get one guy who comes in for a couple in the middle afternoon, and usually some Camel Lights," he said, "but he didn't show up today."

Maybe the guy was on the toilet?

Is that the same 7-11, that over 20 years ago, was in the news for being a great Portland Police hang out, you know, great coffee, great dounts, and free smoke 'um don't choke 'um lessons?
"Oh thank heaven, for 7-11"

No, I go to a different one, but I do pass by the one you're talking about around midnight a couple of nights a week, and there's always action, including police cars parked out front.
The ambulance place that used to be cater-corner from there -- the one that apparently took an eternity to get around to trying to save the choke hold victim you write about -- is gone. Fixed up and replaced by a Cricket store.
