Varsity loses!!! (J.V. wins)
New York has two major league baseball teams, and there's never any question which one is top banana. Today we have a perfect illustration. Over the weekend, the Mets won their playoff round, advancing to the league finals; the Yankees were eliminated, being trounced by the Detroit Tigers.

Go Tigers! Screw the stinkin' Yankees!
That said, I think they need to fire their talent, not their manager. But oh well, that's not how pro sports work.

An amazing collapse for the Yankees, though not as bad as losing to the Red Sox two years ago. Go Mets!

I was working in NYC's main post office, across from Madison Square Garden, when the Mets won their first world series. They piped the game in over the PA system, and we threw mail all over the place in celebration when they won.
But I'm also a Yankees fan going back to when my paper-route paid my way to see Mantle and Maris play at Yankee stadium. I was hoping for another subway series.
Today? Yankees you SUCK! Go METS!!

As a die-hard Red Sox fan, it also does my heart good.
