21st Century schizoid man
Remember King Crimson, the late '60s band that bent our minds with "In the Court of the Crimson King" and other Procol Harum-esque ditties? I'll bet you thought you'd never hear their music again.
But you're probably wrong. An alert reader has tipped us off that King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp has been recording sounds that Microsoft is considering using as the cues for its new version of Windows. Egads. So if you hit the wrong key while Windows Vista is taking its sweet time doing something mysterious, you're going to get a clip of "Cat Food -- Again"?

KC has been in and out of the music scene ever since the original lp (with L of ELP on bass and melifluous vocals). Fripp and his Frippertronics were an ambient intro to a PDX G3 show a few years back. As for "Cat Food," my cats heard it not long ago . . .
Fripp & MS seems a more natural match than Skunk and the Pentagon.

Adrian Belew, who started with KC in 1981 and is still with them, came to Portland in a solo show about 6 weeks ago. I missed the concert, but my brother, who is an accomplished guitarist himself, was completely blown away by Belew's mastery of the instrument. AB's a guy who absolutely loves what he does and has poured all his energy into his music. One that loves music, not the limelight, money or that bling-bling crap.
He's even been nominated for a grammy....it that means anything.
BTW, I'm a huge King Crimson fan, good post Jack.
