Read all about it
For those of you who are willing to go through their registration process (which so far hasn't hurt me, that I know of), the folks at KGW-TV here in town have a page up where they compile many (all?) of the press releases with which they're inundated daily.
Want to feel like a news editor, sorting through all of the raw data that comes across the news desk every day? Have a look.

Actually this is only from the organizations, primarily schools and public agencies, registered at pdxinfo.net. A very small amount.
A news director and staff probably receive several hundred releases daily. And local TV almost exclusively pulls from AP and the Oregonian for most stories anyway.
The joys of once being involved in media...=)

Yep, it's a fraction of what's actually out there - and if you take a closer look at the page, you'll see that it contains more than a month's worth of releases.
But it's worth adding to the list to check for anyone aspiring to be an information glutton!
Here are a few more sources worth scanning for local news:
OregonLive's Regional Bulletins.
An Oregon NewsFlash, also offered by OLive.
Topix.net's Portland feed.

The Guard has a nice little compilation area for AP stories related to the northwest at Northwest Now, too.

KGW's registration system is fine. I'm a 78-year-old woman from South Dakota.
