U. of Portland is "don't ask don't tell"

Oh, those pesky students, always asking questions.

“We know that there are faculty and staff in same-sex relationships on campus,” Beauchamp said. “They are not public about it and we don’t ask them. But if someone were to go very public about it and make an issue then we would have trouble.”

Wow. Interesting comment considering this:

if you don't want to abide by Catholic teachings, why would you go to a Catholic University? what ever happened to "when in Rome..."...

Too bad Beauchamp didn't include the fact that if faculty, staff or students "went public" about heterosexual relationships there might be trouble too. Why on a university campus, especially a Catholic one, should anyone be emphasizing sexual exploits or activities at all?

Sounds like a heck of a sales pitch for the admissions officers. If all they had as students were practicing Catholics, there would be no University of Portland.

It would be so much more difficult to be an Atheist if these men of god did not constantly remind us how evil and ignorant their religion is.

Jack - it is very arrogant american of us to say, "hey, I know what I am getting into, and I desire to receive all the benefits of your institution, but you need to change a few things for me".

it is this attitude that gets us the political and social envirornment P-town current enjoys...in a nutshell, we have become a society of whinny, me-first little bitches...

HardT, there's a home next to ours that's going on the market shortly. Please give it some consideratinn if you're looking.
