Tri-Met goes back to before my getting here, which was in 1978. It will soon be bankrupt and replaced by some other governmental entity. The Goldschmidt Network probably already has it drawn up, but it will be another five to 10 years before they have to implement it.

jk----How many more streetcar lines and light rail lines is that?
Instead of invading private conversations on transit, microphones need to be placed in the offices of the public servants where the public can monitor how the politicians and other public officials are implementing social engineering rather than just doing the people’s work.
Come, now. Talk about the corruption in all the various offices. Tell others what you overheard various politicians, council members, and whoever say about one another, and the voters. Be scurrilous. Have FUN!
What about grandma transporting passengers in her mini-van? How long 'til we get to artisan status in the transportation sector? Grandma would have to get her own insurance and risk-management consultants, etc.
This does seem a bit creepy, but considering the crimes, etc. that seem to take place on Tri-Met, wouldn't you want some kind of automatic audio/video surveillance?

Who the hell voted for 'trimet'?
They should all be sent to the private sector to survive. Every last one of them...

Does this mean we can do a public record request for the audio of seat 23 on bus #11 at 4 pm last Sunday?
Thanks

Half million dollar busses that have state of the art surveillance....
How about less expensive busses and more of them?

I like the excuse that basically says, "everybody's doing it now, it's normal!".
This is probably some requirement attached to the federal money our regional governments are so addicted to... like heroin addicts.

Read about it and I think people will find this more than a bit creepy,
it is downright scary.
Looks like our privacy is being chipped away.

Ha! Listen away. All you're going to hear are symptoms of drug-induced psychosis, as the walking wounded lash out at random undeserving riders.
I never expected privacy on transit. Everybody has an iPhone now. So may memorable YouTube videos were made on the bus or train. You're in public.
To put it another way, Trimet can barely run a middling transit agency on their best day. This isn't Freamon and Sydnor over here. Sleep well.
