Portland water bureau hiring commercial realtors

The honchos at the Portland water bureau, relentless in their mission creep, really dig themselves as big-time wheeler-dealers. So perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that they're getting ready to sign three-year contracts for not one but two on-call commercial real estate brokers for their latest backroom shenanigans:

The successful Proposer(s) will assist the PWB in Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Service tasks that exceed PWB’s resources or expertise. The Successful Proposer’s tasks will include but not be limited to the following services:

• Site Search/Survey and analysis of market conditions;
• Valuations, Financial and Project Feasibility Analysis;
• Site Acquisition;
• Sale or Disposition of Property;
• Leasing Services; and,
• Additional real estate analysis and support services as required.

You can bet somebody's nephew has already got at least one of these deals locked up, but if you want to see the window dressing, it's here.

I like the 'sale and disposition of property' part. Perhaps they will be shedding some excess lands/buildings?

But over at Metro things are fine:

Metro’s $12.7 million series 2013 bonds have received a “AAA” long-term rating from Standard & Poor’s Ratings Service-- The O
Surely if S&P says so, it must be so.
In their opinion.

So instead of just misappropriating Water Bureau funds like the Sam Rand twins, Char-lie is going to finance his projects thru real estate biz. More bunkers anyone?

They did so well with houses, now maybe they are going to start flipping skyscrapers and shopping centers.

Are they so short of finances that they now have to sell our water property?

Perhaps the new ones in Council are finding out there just isn’t enough money in the pot to continue on the path which was to dismantle our current sustainable system and turn it into a costly corporate designed system? Corporations need those project$$, so now what? Sell our public water property/assets?

I envision that if the public objects, we will be told our rates will skyrocket even further if we don’t go along with whatever is being decided for us now. We could easily be led into the regional plan which will reduce/take away our say concerning the water we drink, then incrementally be turned into some public/private partnership which will extract as much money as possible from us and eventually if we simply have no more to give, the pipes and our assets and water rights will be handed over to the private or whomever has been waiting in the wings for lucrative endeavors with our water. As it is there is a familiarity here as we have already had the public paying dearly for private gain. Can we really expect that this new council will change course and be responsible stewards to do what they can to retain our good Bull Run Water System for we the people?
