The photo shopped drones in the picture, make a sounds like distant lawn mowers and since they're driven by propellers they wouldn't be going by very fast. I guess it's the journalistic thought that counts.
Let's be honest, the vision of drones as our national symbol of dominance is real. Enemies understand there is a personal risk to planning war against us; knowing a missile may descend upon their heads from the sky at any given moment. It is our new military and psychcological edge. Soon we will be in full drone deployment mode in Mali and Algeria in support of the French. One could argue it will be in support of protecting the oil interests over there. No doubt it will cause more hate and discontent for the U.S. in those areas targeted. Africa may be the new Afghanistan, but the war method of choice will be drones rather than troops.
As pretentious as it is to quote from my own song, here goes:
"What about all of these drones?
We're killing little kids like an app on our phones.
If we want to kill you, then you're going to die,
along with everyone standing nearby.
That, that has to be wrong.
Running the world like a mafia don,
so why don't we stand up and make a big fuss
or tell me how many drones does it take to be us?
How many drones does it take to be us?"
What about all our drones in the sky
A mission to kill, did you ever ask why?
Picking their targets with less than good care
Quiet till deadly, like snakes in the air.

I don't know what was worse, the droning over head or the droning from the podium.

Every time Congress proposes drone control legislation, Obama gets all huffy about his constitutional right to have and use them.
