Sam Bowie lied to the Blazers to get drafted
He said his knees didn't hurt, when in fact they did. And so the Blazers passed on Michael Jordan to take him, in a humongous bust rivaled only by choosing Greg Oden over Kevin Durant. Think of all the Blazer fans Bowie screwed. Somebody ought to sue his lame butt.

He lied... and said anybody would do the same thing in his shoes.
I don't think so. Liar.

Let it go. The Blazers organization has been an All-Star fiasco for decades. They never should have lost that championship series to the Pistons, for example. Furthermore, with the latest star-laming in Brandon Roy and the launching pad breakdown of Greg Oden, we know that the Blazers' medical corps have been a chronic bunch of bumbling butchers.

And the trainers should rename themselves sprainers.

The Pistons series? Let me go on memory: Laimbeer, Isiah Thomas, John Salley, Rodman, Joe Dumars, Vinnie the Microwave, Chuck Daley. It wasn't exactly a disgrace to lose to that team.
Especially when Joe Dumars' dad died during the series and he played on. You think the team was going to let him down?
If you want to regret something try the big comeback by the Lakers during that one playoff game in the Scotty Pippin years. That one was right there for the taking. You could even call it a Blazers choke. We had to miss something like 13 straight to make it happen, while turning Brian Shaw, etc...into LA legends.
We get by them that year and we sail through the Finals.

They were a better team that year than the still-rising Pistons, Bill. But, you were right to include coaching legend Chuck Daley in your list. He was the difference. Adelman lost many big games in those years, and that series was the topper for me. Quit really caring as much after that. And Paul Allen's ownership has been like taking a sledgehammer to a jalopy. By the time that Lakers episode you mention came around the Blazers were a zombie franchise.

To be more specific about Adelman: for example, he didn't know when to call a timeout, even to save his life. Inevitably, when he did it was waaay too late and momentum not only was lost, but had shifted to the opponent.

I gotta let that go someday, too. But, it sure was torturous at the time. Worse than bricking 20 out of 20 3's, by far.

Portland always seems to have trouble with liars named "Sam"--one named Bowie and the other named Adams.

Daley loved the city of Portland and we passed on him when he was available.

Well all is not lost. Bowie can always become a talk show host.........

This just emphasizes the incompetence on the part of the Blazers even more. They have pretty draft physicals for a reason, you don't make d

You missed the best part - The link to the story about Kevin Love being available.
To win in the NBA you either:
1) Spend a ton of money (a la the Heat),
2) Get smart mgmt (a la the Spurs) or
3) You're a big market town.
Let it go.

The statute of ultimate repose is 10 years in Oregon. If the contract is controlled by Oregon law then the Blazers don't have a snow balls chance in hell on this one. Of course Gov. Retread could call a special session of the legislature to change that...
