Sad see the damage. In New England, its common to have seawalls. I wonder what New Jersey would look like if they had seawalls along the shore.

Anyone who ever felt a connection to New Jersey must be feeling terrible about the damage from the storm, but fortunately for you, Jack, a rock and roll doctor is about to make a house call at the Rose Garden, and heal your body and replenish your soul.

If there were a seawall on the all sand islands along the Jersey there would be no beach. Storm tides lashing against the walls would wash the sand out to sea and the current would propel the sand laterally up the coast.
