The Pac 12 is a bust
Our buddy Dwight Jaynes hits the nail on the head with these observations:
For the second season in a row, the Pac-12's championship game is really not going to do anything for the conference but hurt it. If Oregon were to go into that game undefeated, all the game does is jeopardize its chances of making it to the BCS title game -- which means a lot of dough to every school in the conference. And either way, I see no reason for USC or UCLA to have a chance to play for a conference championship. They aren't good enough. There aren’t enough games in a season to waste one on a matchup like this.... This conference didn't need Utah and Colorado and it didn't need a championship game.
Word. The whole thing (along with some thoughts about tonight's gridiron battle in Blugene) is here.

In the end, greed gets 'em everytime. PAC-12, Big-12, NCAA, CIA, Romney, Rove, Cheney, Goldman Saks, Bank of America, Goldschmidt, etc., etc.

Hmmm...everyone on that list seems to be doing just fine.
Did you mean "gets to them"?
And where does the "?" go in that last sentence? :-)

Jaynes is missing the major point. It's all about the money from TV and the media. Pac 12 now has their own TV network and another championship game to broadcast with even more revenue coming in.
And soon revenue and media attention rivaling the SEC as well. Jaynes needs to give up on the old school stuff - it's going away for good.

Bah! It's all been downhill since the Pac-8.
