Bow wow wow! That's a tough sheet this week! Hard to expect any other than the +1's and Dallas (+2) & SD (+3) coming thru without seeing the injury reports on Thurs. I think Oakland might be the big gamble this weekend.

Best Bet
(Last week: 0-1; overall, 6-6 (.500))
NEW ORLEANS (+3) vs. Atlanta -- This is an old rivalry going all the way back to '67, when these two teams were added to the NFL a few years before the AFL-NFL merger. Atlanta is very good this year, and the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL. I'd bet against the streak this week. After falling short against the Broncos, Drew Brees and the Saints will be determined to put on a good show for the home fans. Defense and special teams may end up making the difference in this one, with NO having the edge in special teams play, including kicking in the home dome.
Upset Special
(Last week: 1-0; overall 4-5 (.444))
TENNESSEE (+6) at Miami -- Miami's winning when it shouldn't and losing when it shouldn't. With Jake Locher back to start at QB for the Titans, they should be excited to get back to their aerial attack to complement their excellent RB, Chris Johnson. It's all up to the OL to just be average at least. Hopefully, Titans speedy WR Nate Washington is recovered from the illness that kept him from practicing Friday.
Gamblers' Corner
(btw: no longer keeping a stat/avg. for this because these are not predictions, just trying to guess which super-longshot might get lucky for some gambler. I'm also not going to try and explain the picks in this category. "That's why they call it gambling, kid.")
OAKLAND (+9.5) at Baltimore -- Two teams that may be going in opposite directions, the Raiders rising and the Ravens sinking like they're just some high flying junkyard dogs whose wings are made of wax & buzzard feathers. The Raiders are such big underdogs because their top two RBs are out for this one, but Carson Palmer knows the Ravens well and has played in this park many times during his years with the Bengals. Palmer and his speedy WRs Denarius Moore and Darrius Heyward-Bey, a key parts of their high-flying passing offense which is ranked 7th in the NFL. Palmer's only been sacked 14 times this year, and last week he had over 400 yards passing against Tampa Bay. The Ravens defense wasn't the same this year even before Ray Lewis tore his triceps. They miss Suggs, and more. If the Raiders can contain Ravens RB Ray Rice, they'll leave Baltimore victorious.
