State calls West Hayden Island pave-over what it is: a joke
The "green" hypocrisy of the City and Port of Portland in destroying wildlife habitat isn't fooling anybody who's paying attention.

What could go wrong? Ships, Trucks, Trains, Coal dust, smoke, lots of noise.
Why can't all these animals just get along?

Yay, ODFW! Stand fast. And don't let the Port's "It's an ongoing conversation, and the process is exceedingly complex" threat scare you off your public trust duty. Gov. Kitzhaber needs to call off the Port's bad dogs -- now!
There are better and more sustainable natural functions, attributes (passive human "uses" too), and values to the "undeveloped" remains of Hayden Island and the river bed around it than the Port of Portland and City of Portland schemers propose.
They & the City & the State & the culpable corporations around Swan Island should rehab the existing Portland Harbor for their deep water port delusions, and leave Hayden Island alone.

I have a hunch the urban planners have other ideas for Swan Island...

Swan Island Debtors Prison?
Start by putting the politicians and psycho construction syndicates there. Now that'd be some density in-filling!

"It's an ongoing conversation, and the process is exceedingly complex," is French for "we stole it fair and square and we're just waiting 'til after the election to finish ramming it through."
Something tells me this is the one that is finally going to come down to people getting arrested for blocking the heavy earth moving equipment. What are the current camping regulations out there? Let's give the eagles and the deer some companionship 'til these "jobs at any cost" officials come to their senses.
One of you graphics geniuses out there needs to do the "Wanted" poster of the top people on the public payroll that are pushing this travesty. Bad officials! No golf vacations!

Since Ross Island has been declared the "natural preserve", Hayden Island will probably become Portland's "Little Venice" when the Pearl and SoWhat become mainstream and less desirable and hip to live in.

Those that are running an agenda harmful to others ought to be exposed.

The union dorks walked off the job the other day because their boss was found guilty in court. Now, they're doing their "slowdown" thing. Why should we sacrifice eagle habitat to create six-figure-paying, low-skill jobs that they obviously don't appreciate?
