"The intention is for the plankton to absorb carbon dioxide and then sink to the ocean bed – a geoengineering technique known as ocean fertilisation that he hopes will net lucrative carbon credits."
Its not about saving the planet, its about selling the credits and making a profit.
Oh wait, only rightie - tighties care about profit.
Nevermind. He will save the planet
Swell, since that little experiment in Austrailia with the Cane Toad worked out so well. I am far from an environmentalist, but this guy needs to pay a hugh fine and spend some time inside looking out.
I think the people that wrote that article are space cadets. Dumping a 100 tons of anything into the Ocean isn’t going to do much of anything. I am not saying it is a good idea, but a 100 tons isn’t very much. A big ship sinking puts in thousands of tons of iron into the sea. This is just a lot of hype from some extreme environmentalists.

Another case where humans think they can "fix" the world through science.
I choose to trust Mother Nature, who has about a couple of Billion years of wisdom going for her.

This is actually a scary story. Some guy with the means takes in on himself to alter the climate in an effort to save the world.
Gee, what could go wrong?

P.S.
Makes me think of "Rainbow Six" by Tom Clancy, minus the terrorists.
