A majority of Portland's current residents arrived here after the 7th grade: many didn't move here until they finished grad school.
I don't see what the problem is with people who have made a conscious CHOICE to come to Portland, as opposed to people who just happened to be born here.
Nothing wrong with that, Dave, except that many of the CHOICES of those who CHOSE to move here to retire at 30 are leaving the rest of us with no CHOICE but to move elsewhere if we want to have a shot at gainful employment.
Fair warning if you attend any of the upcoming neighborhood festivals - Charlie Hales marched in the Fremont Fest parade (the Green Dog dog contigent got stuck behind him), Jefferson Smith, Mary Nolan and Amanda Fritz all showed up - not sure if any marched. Only three more months of all of this . . .

Wow. Who does he think he is? Some kind of golden god? Scary.

So he's the scarecrow, lion, and tin man all rolled up into one fantastic package. Perhaps he should go sell his schtick up north in the Emerald City.

Not so sure he is a Portland boy through and through.
At age two he was moved to California
then came back to Portland during his seventh grade.

Portland deserves Jefferson Smith.
Portland needs Jefferson Smith. Portland will elect Jefferson Smith for Mayor.
Because Jefferson Smith is just as shallow, self-important, and self-deluding as Portland itself.
