Funny how politicians want the taxpayer to help prevent jobs from moving to china, but when the wage earner asked politicians for help for the same thing, it fell on deaf ears.

It ain't funny, it's dysfunctional.
Our political class have no business playing business. They are WAY over their heads and that is quite a task cause their heads are swelled mightily.

Doesn't it make sense that the way Portland subsidizes some businesses attracts the weakest competitors, and that those weak competitors more often than not require more and more assistance before they ultimately fail? A company that seeks subsidies focuses attention and resources away from its core business, and also makes business decisions that wouldn't happen without the subsidies.
Vestas, for example, is locked in a slow death spiral, yet has wasted millions in administrative and professional costs alone to develop new fancy digs in the Pearl District. That decision is a mark of tipsy leadership that values appearance over substance, but instead of scanning the ballroom for a stronger, more rewarding partner, Portland jumps on bad opportunity and shuffles the tart home for a few hours of sloppy fun.

Ok, that last paragraph is hilarious, but sadly, too true.
