Winterhawks force epic Game 7 in Edmonton
Portland's hockey team evened its series with the Edmonton Oil Kings at 3 games apiece this evening. Now they're on a charter flight, on the same plane as their opponents, from Oregon to Edmonton, where they'll play the deciding game tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. West Coast time. With a brutal schedule like that, the home team will have at least a slight advantage. Portland's going to need everything it's got to take the cup. It did win Game 2 up there on May 4. Go Winterhawks!

It doesn't get much better than Game 7 in the hockey playoffs for the league championship. It will be on ROOT Sports NW at 5PM so wrap up the Mother's Day festivities and be in front of the TV for this game!

10,000 rabid hockey fans in the Rose Garden Saturday night. I've been following the team for over a decade and haven't seen this level of support in years. Rumor has it The Oregonian's Winterhawks beat writer won't be with the team in Edmonton on Sunday, but will be covering high school golf instead. Further, should the team make the Memorial Cup, there will be no representation from Portland's daily in Quebec. Imagine if they did this to the Timbers. Simply embarrassing.
