Wait'll we get a load of them

It's hard to wrap our mind around the fact that come January, we may have both Steve Novick and Jefferson Smith on the Portland City Council. After the current four-year collective nervous breakdown, it will be like switching over to a Batman movie.

But your not surprised, either am I

Who of the two will play Catwoman?

Portland ALWAYS gets what they want! ... and deserves!!

I promise I won't gloat unless Hales loses, and SamRand morphs into Jeffarlie.

Aw, Jack, that's funny. And two new nicknames for them: "Biff!" & "Bam!"

As Portland takes it on the chin....again.

Nurse Amanda or ..Union Maid Nolan will play Cat Woman....

Nolan more like Poison Ivy.

Who of the two will play Catwoman?

Sam dressed as Vera?

Portland taxpayers are so screwed.

Too bad Streetcar Smith isn't also on the ballot, y'all could get a three-fer.

Just when you thought you'd seen it all - bang, up pops a bigger, better brand of idiots. Portland, you voted them in, enjoy!

It wasn't that long ago Jack that you were all about "The Hook".

Yeah, against Gordon Smith.

But that was before he became BFF with Fireman Randy, who gave him the inside track on the City Council gig, and gushed all over Facebook about what a great leader Saltzman is. No thanks.

The funny thing about Novick is that he has been begging for a job on the public dime for years now. But now that he finally landed his dream job, there just isn't much money left for him to give away.

Giving away money is Novick's solution to every problem. Without tons of money to hand, he has nothing.

"Giving away money is Novick's solution to every problem."

Disagree - Beggin' Kitz for money for med insur and jails and putting up parking meters is also high on his agenda.

God, talk about a paper-thin plan for Portland's economy. Another idiot.

Jack, all you have to do is run against Novick as a write-in in November. You'd win and we'd win with many interesting debates and jabs if you happened to lose.

Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown.

Not original, and, perhaps, not a productive sentiment, but, when I saw it, here, from another reader, I chuckled.

But, for me, it expresses the idea that Portland politics isn't rational, you can't make sense of it, and, above all, it's tragic.

It's also a result of incestuous behavior, tied into self-dealing power politics.

You won't get the big contributions, but surely, small and medium sized business people must be getting tired of it all.

Even, may I suggest, so are a major portion of Portland registered voters. What with 28% voter participation, that implies over half of Portland voters didn't feel the crop of high profile candidates didn't offer a choice worthy of voting.

What next, sheep running around city hall?
